1. DRESS IN LAYERS

This may be a no brainer, but when it comes to playing beach sports in the winter, layering is your best friend. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin. Add an insulating layer to trap heat, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer to shield you from the elements. Don't forget to wear a hat or ear warmer to keep your head warm. Remember, you can always shed a layer if you get too warm, but you can't add one if you're too cold!

2. INVEST IN SAND SOCKS

This one is a game-changer. Playing beach volleyball or another sand sport in the winter means facing cold sand, so to keep your feet warm and protected, invest in a good pair of sand socks (you can find some here)! These neoprene socks provide insulation and traction, so you can play your heart out while keeping your toes toasty.

3. PRE-GAME OR TRAINING WARM UP

Before you dive into your game or training session, spend some extra time warming-up. Winter temps can be tough on your muscles and joints, so stretch thoroughly and engage in dynamic exercises to get your blood flowing. A proper warm-up can help prevent injuries and get your body heated before playing!

4. EMBRACE THE RAIN GEAR

Don't let a little rain dampen your spirits, we're big fans of rallying through the rain! Invest in some quality rain gear, like waterproof jackets and pants. This will help you stay dry and warm during wet beach sessions. Plus, playing in the rain can be an exhilarating experience you won't want to miss. Check out our coaches tip from Issa Batrane on how to play in the rain.

5. HYDRATE & NOURISH

Cold weather can sometimes trick you into thinking you don't need as much water as you do. However, staying hydrated is just as crucial in the winter as it is in the summer. Drink plenty of water before and during your beach sports session to stay energized and avoid cramps. Consider packing some warm, nutritious snacks like oatmeal or hot soup to refuel between games or during your training session.

6. INVEST IN A DRYROBE OR SIMILAR PRODUCT

Oh yeah, we know you've seen these everywhere, and they are key for cold weather days to stay warm before, after and in between games and training sessions. Have a look here for one of these gorgeous DryRobes (not sponsored, we just love DryRobe)!

7. POST-GAME OR SESSION WARM UP

Once your beach sports session is over, it's essential to warm up again. Change out of your wet gear, and get yourself a warm beverage to raise your body temperature. This will prevent post-game chills and keep you comfortable on your journey home.

8. EMBRACE THE WINTER SPIRIT

Lastly, embrace the winter spirit and have fun! Playing beach sports in the winter can be an epic and unique experience. Besides, only the coolest of the cool play beach volleyball and other beach sports during the winter ;) It's an incredible bonding experience and will give you that competitive edge when the Summer season starts again!

So, there you have it—tips to keep the beach sports fire burning all year round. Don't let the winter weather discourage you from enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. With the right gear, mindset, and a bit of adventurous spirit, you can continue playing beach sports even in the colder months. So, grab your sand socks, bundle up, and hit the beach. We're waiting for you!
