With Deep Dish Bournemouth kicking off again, we would love to introduce you to all of the amazing coaches that will be leading our sessions this summer! Check out our series of interviews with our coaches to get to know them better, and remember to book into sessions to get coached by them while you can!
Next up.... Mo Kerai!
How long have you been coaching ?
I started coaching indoor volleyball 8 years ago and beach volleyball about 6 years.
Can you tell us a bit about your career?
Coached my university team from 2016-19. Since then, have mainly coached beach volleyball with DeepDish at both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, as well as Portugal for uni tour and camp. On top of that, I have coached a kids summer camp in Italy and adult sessions in Australia.
What are you most looking forward to this summer with Deep Dish Bournemouth?
Club championships is gonna be a great event! We will have some great players representing the club so hoping we can take the W this year and get revenge on our (friendly) rivals Deepdish Crystal Palace!
Do you have a favoutire drill or skill to coach?
Chicken wings! If you know, you know. ;) If you don’t know, book a session and I’ll teach ya! I like coaching techniques and aspects which you don’t see in the coaching manuals. This isn’t only a lot of fun but also adds elements to your game that others don’t have.
Why should players join us at Deep Dish Bournemouth?
It’s all about the sense of community you get from it. You get more than just beach volleyball. You get some fun fitness in and great vibes, on the best beach in the country. The social groups and friends you can make is another big factor.
Best advice or top tip for up and coming beach volleyball players or beginners wanting to get into the sport?
Don’t be discouraged by not being able to dig a ball straight away. It’s a unique sporting skill which you will not have done before. But we have some amazing coaches who will help you through it. Also, just focus on enjoying yourself! The rest will come with time.
What is a life changing book/movie/quote that you highly recommend to other people?
Adapt or go extinct. Don’t be afraid to experiment with change, most of the time it’s the best thing that happens to you
We hope you will join us for an incredible summer at Deep Dish Bournemouth, whether you're a Complete Beginner or an Experienced Expert, we have classes for every level.
