MEET THE COACHES | MICHAEL WAHL | BOURNEMOUTH 2024

With Deep Dish Bournemouth kicking off again, we would love to introduce you to all of the amazing coaches that will be leading our sessions this summer! Check out our series of interviews with our coaches to get to know them better, and remember to book into sessions to get coached by them while you can!


Next up.... MICHAEL WAHL  !

How long have you been coaching for ?

​​I have been coaching for about 6 years 


Can you tell us a bit about your career?

I played four years of club volleyball , one year as an NCAA Division 1 Libero, four years as an NAIA setter, and played semi-professionally as a setter in the Volleyball League of America (VLA) for the Cleveland Kong team.  I played this year at BU as an outside and a setter for indoor, currently playing beach for BU and played for Weymouth Volleyball Club as an outside and setter this past season in NVL Div 1


What are you most looking forward to this summer with deep dish?

I’m most looking forward to growing the game in any way I can! 


Do you have a favourite skill/drill to coach?

My favorite skill to coach is definitely defence. the feeling of getting a ball up that everyone thinks is going to hit the sand is 

unmatched. 


Why should players join us at deep dish bournemouth?

Players should join us at deep dish bournemouth because they will gain an array of new skills taught by a variety of amazing coaches. 


Best advice/top tip for up and coming beach players wanting to get into the sport?

Volleyball can give you life long friends, and who doesn’t love making new friends while playing a fun sport under the sun? 


What is a changing book/movie/quote that you highly recommend to other people?

“getting 1% better every day counts for a lot in the long run” by James Clear
