We’re thrilled to recap an unforgettable weekend as we teamed up with Watergate Bay to host a world-class beach volleyball event!
From September 13-15, the Cornish shores transformed into the ultimate volleyball battleground! The event kicked off with a dynamic lineup of activities, including scramble volleyball tournaments, spike ball, and our popular “give-it-a-go” sessions. These sessions provided beachgoers with a chance to experience the excitement of beach volleyball before the weekend’s top-tier matches.
The showcase featured an impressive array of volleyball stars, including some of the UK's finest and global legends. Over the course of the weekend, spectators witnessed intense face-offs and a showcase of world-class skill. Spectators also enjoyed authentic Italian bites and kept refreshed with Birra Moretti's brand-new Sale Di Mare lager, adding that perfect coastal touch to the weekend!
The tournament reached a thrilling climax with the highly anticipated Bello brothers face-off —Javier and Joaquin Bello, who previously earned Bronze at the Commonwealth Games, competed against each other for the first time ever. This historic match captivated the audience and highlighted the event’s exceptional standard of play.
The weekend culminated with the crowning of the King and Queen of the Bay. Joaquin Bello and Alice Zeimann emerged victorious, each claiming £1000 in prize money and the prestigious titles. Their performances were a fitting end to a spectacular event.

All 6 games displayed the highest standard of beach volleyball I have seen this summer (and I’ve seen a lot). Watergate Hotel went above and beyond, with a sauna and hot tub overlooking the beach and centre court — it was just incredible!”
The success of this three-day event not only celebrated the sport of beach volleyball but also inspired and engaged a new generation of players. We can’t wait to see you all next year for another round of exhilarating volleyball action!
