LEVELS OF PLAY
Before coming along to a class, social, clinic, tournament or a vacation, have a look below at our Levels of Play and how we categorise our levels based on experience and skills!

Levels Of Play
CHECKLIST
• No previous experience needed. Get involved!
AT OUR CLASSES YOU'LL LEARN
• 4v4, 3v3 and some 2v2 games!
• Learning and practicing key skills with lots of repetitions
• You'll get a feel for moving in the sand, and we'll have you playing in no time!
• Socialise with a fantastic group of like minded people
WE RECOMMEND
Training: Any Beginners class
Social Play Sessions: Beginner specific socials
Tournaments: Starter Series (UKBT 1*)
You've won it all in Beginners training and social sessions. You're consistent in basic skills and move well in the sand. You are ready to start seriously competing in tournaments!
CHECKLIST - CAN YOU?
• Serve - Serve in 5 times out of 10
• Pass - Pass perfectly 3 times out of 10
• Set - Handset with no spin 3 times out of 10
• Spike - Jump and spike the ball to my desired target 3 times out of 10
AT OUR CLASSES YOU'LL LEARN
• 2v2 gameplay concepts
• Developing consistency in your skills
• Understanding how to sideout
• Defending hard driven hits & chasing shots
• Approach work and the different ways of attacking
• Footwork for setting
• Blocking and defence calls
WE RECOMMEND
Training
• Any Improvers class
Social Play Sessions
• All You Can Beach
• Friday Night Socials
Tournaments
• Starter Series (UKBT 1*)
• Contender Series (UKBT 2*)
• Winter Series
You're competing in and even medalling in UKBT 2* tournaments, pushing yourself to compete in UKBT 3* tournaments. Consistent demonstration of all skills and in-game knowledge (side-out, block-defence, communicating to partner)

• Serve - Overarm serve to target areas 5 times out of 10
• Pass - Pass a good, overarm serve perfectly 5 times out of 10
• Set - Handset with no spin 5 times out of 10
• Spike - Jump and spike the ball to my desired target 5 times out of 10
IN OUR CLASSES YOU'LL LEARN
• Further improving your skills and ball control to set up awesome attacks
• Employing different setting styles (Wide and reverse) to vary your sideout
• Serving smart: Learning to serve float and topspin, and improving accuracy
• Developing consistency in your sideout
• Working on match-like situations
• Reading the game and adjusting your tactics to win!

• Contender Series (UKBT 2*)
• Gladiator Series (UKBT 3*)
• Winter Series
Medalling at UK Beach 3* tournaments and competing in UKBT Opens. Demonstrating a detailed understanding of the tactics of beach volleyball. Reading the game, and making attacking/defensive calls.
CHECKLIST - CAN YOU?
• Serve - Float and topspin serve to target areas 7 times out of 10
• Pass - Pass a good, overarm serve to the middle of the court, in the front 2m, 7 times out of 10
• Set - Handset up-and-down, wide and reverse sets consistently
• Spike - Jump and spike the ball to my desired target 6-7 times out of 10
• Complete a side-out against good teams at 50%
IN OUR CLASSES YOU'LL LEARN
• Getting your skills and ball control up to an elite level
• Developing the consistency needed to sideout effectively off a range of different service styles and zones
• Using service and block defence to get great results against different opponents
• Transitioning and attacking smart
• Practising different setting styles and tempos, knowing when to use them
• Winning clutch situations: Closing out high pressure points and sets

Consistently medalling in UK Beach Tour 3* tournaments. Competing in and reaching the knockout stages of UKBT Opens as well as pushing to compete in UKBT Grand Slams. Excellent tactical knowledge, ball control, and consistency. Perfect execution of different styles of play, specific to your opponent.
CHECKLIST - CAN YOU?
• Serve - Float and topspin to specific targets 9 times out of 10
• Pass - Pass a good, aggressive serve to the middle of the court, in the front 2m, 9 times out of 10
• Set - Variety of sets, wide, back, quick with no spin 9 times out of 10
• Spike - Jump and spike the ball to my desired target 9 times out of 10
• Side-out against good teams 6 times out of 10
IN OUR CLASSES YOU'LL LEARN
• Creating efficient point scoring opportunities on the side out
• Identifying opposition attacking tendencies and adjusting your serve and defence to counteract
• Match play management - When to speed the game up, slow it down and how to cope with pressure
• Mastering environmental and situational adaptability
• Adopting different playing styles seen on the world tour
